Toys R Us, under parent company WHP Global, is set to expand its physical presence by opening more flagship stores and venturing into cruise ships and airports, according to an announcement made on Friday.
Toys R Us had closed its physical stores in 2018 after going bankrupt. A previous attempt at revival focused on malls was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, WHP Global acquired the company in 2021.
In November, the first airport location of Toys R Us will open at Terminal A of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Following this, the company plans to open more flagship stores across the United States and expand to other airports and cruise ships.
Yehuda Shmidman, CEO of WHP Global, expressed excitement about the brand’s growth and expansion. He stated, “The Toys R Us brand is growing fast and our expansion into air, land, and sea is a testament to the brand’s strength… We are excited to bring Toys R Us to consumers everywhere.”
Details about specific cruise lines, ships featuring Toys R Us locations, as well as the exact locations for flagship and airport stores, were not disclosed by the company.
In previous years, Toys R Us launched a flagship store at the American Dream mall in New Jersey and introduced Toys R Us shops in 452 Macy’s stores nationwide.
