TOKYO (AP) — Prince Harry praised the power of sports and its ability to heal on Wednesday as he started his trip to promote sports in Tokyo, the first stop on his Asia tour.
According to the Duke of Sussex, sports not only helps in building physical strength but also aids in the healing of the body and mind. He made these remarks while speaking at an event hosted by the International Sports Promotion Society, an organization based in Tokyo.
Prince Harry mentioned that he has witnessed how sports rescue individuals from their lowest point in life. By providing a platform and supporting people in redefining themselves, he believes that “that’s when I see sports really coming to itself.”
“I have seen sports literally save their life,” said Prince Harry. “The physical aspect of sports is obviously important, but the mental aspect and its healing ability are extraordinary.”
He also emphasized that sports have a special value for children that cannot be taught in a classroom but only on a field. “It brings people together – all sizes, backgrounds, beliefs or religions.”
Prince Harry, who is a polo player, is scheduled to travel from Tokyo to Singapore where he will participate in a polo cup.
